Elven Quest :Midnight's Rescue Shadow sat on forest floor and looked up at her beautiful jet-black stallion, Midnight. She had him for many years and he accompanied her everywhere. When she had gone to vanquish the dragon, when she had explored the forbidden lands, and many other quests. She let Midnight loose to graze, and set up camp. She soon fell asleep. When she awoke, she packed up her supplies and called to Midnight, but he did not come. Shadow was extremely worried since he always answered her call. She searched the entire forest until nightfall. Just when she was about to go back and get help, she heard voices in a nearby clearing, so she went over to investigate. It was a dwarven camp, and they seemed to be celebrating. Shadow despised Dwarves, she had encountered them several times and they felt the same way about her. A closer inspection of the camp revealed Midnight lying on the ground with his hind and forelegs tied. Shadow was ready to run in and start flinging dwarves left and right, but she knew that it would involve careful planning and strategy if she wanted to get Midnight out alive. Dwarves are great lovers of ale, and this camp was no exception. Shadow walked away quietly and collected some plants. When she returned, she ground the plants and slipped the powder into the kegs of ale. She then sat back and waited. The dwarves drank until the kegs were dry. Because of the plants, they all fell asleep except for two guards who were not allowed to partake of the ale, in case of an emergency. Shadow snuck behind the guards and thrust her sword through the first's heart. He screamed and fell over, she removed her sword as the other guard turned around an armed himself. She tried to attack him, but he was well trained. In a desperste effort, she morphed into a wolf. The guard was so shocked, he let down his guard for a moment. A moment was all she needed and she lunged for his throat. She twisted his head violently and snapped his neck. He fell over, instantly dead. She then morphed back into her natural form and proceded to step over the sleeping dwarves to reach Midnight. When she reached him, she untied him, and she hastily mounted. She rode away, happy to be re-united with her friend once again. |
